Edward on the beach in Santa Cruz.
Edward on the beach in Santa Cruz, making a break for it and getting as far
from his parents as he can!
Chad and Edward on the Santa Cruz Boardwalk, scoping out the birds.
Edward was very impressed with the birds.
We went to the playground, another day in June.
The bottom of the big slide!
Edward's got this slide down.
Sometimes when Edward slides, though, he'll slow himself down to a snail's
pace and slide all gingerly. I don't get it. Him, scared?
There's a picture, I know it, in the fall of 1998, of a not-yet-walking
Edward going up these same steps. And now look at him.
What mom doesn't like to see her son watch where he's putting his feet?
Edward likes to swing!
Just look at that great big grin!
Wheee!
This is the middle of the dinosaur slide. The dinosaur has portholes!
And doors in its tail!
These bouncy things are easier to ride when you're a little bigger. Edward
gets better and better at 'em all the time.
Yup, this playground is pretty cool.
After all that, Edward was still not the least bit worn out. So we figured
we should put him to work helping us wash the cars.
Here's Edward checking on an air freshener hanging in the back of Grendel's
Mother.
This is the obligatory benchmark photo: how tall Edward was in June of
2000.
Edward helps clean out the Daddy Van.
Edward hung out in his seat for a while.
Of course, the driver's seat also needed investigation, and the horn needed
beeping.
Nice clean cars!
Edward's quite pleased with his helpfulness.
This is the true story of an helado, sabor tamarindo, bought from the
passing guy with the ice cream cart. When I was in Catholic school in
Ecuador, I was so nuts for these tamarind popsicles... oh, man.
Edward thinks it's pretty okay, but he's not nuts about these things like I
was. I could have just eaten them nonstop. And for sure in Washington, New
Hampshire, no one was gonna walk by my house selling popsicles, either.
Yep, I'd say this kid has something to grinn about.
Edward sat nicely on this styrofoam cooler for a while. It was a beautiful,
warm sunny day.
But the urge to goof off runs strong in this boy. So of course he opened up
the cooler and climbed inside.
No, a mere popsicle on a beautiful summer day is not enough to slow Edward
down at all! He's got to run around.
What is the deal? My helado is broken!
I'm not seeing a way to put this back together. Hrmmmm.
Well, if I can't put it back together, I'll just put it right here.
Oh no, ice cream!
