There must be a triangular gamut of application design, with power, ease of use, and stability at the three corners.
I am now working with an app which is crammed way into the "power" corner, while at home I have a similiar thing I made for myself
which features ease-of-use as its primary strength. (As an example of maximum stability, how about a lump of dirt. It's not really powerful, and it's got
a pretty opaque interface, but it's definately tops at acting predictably.) Invariably, the specification calls for all THREE of these things to be at a maximum, but
it's only possible to increase them all at once by having a bigger triangle in the first place. What is the triangle made of? Oh right - time and money. Welcome back to work, me!
It was a pretty good day! I got all set up, met some co-workers, signed some papers that say I'm not allowed to talk about work, and then I... oh wait. Uh, I ceased to exist for 8 hours. Yeah.
After I started existing again, I went to UW to meet William Gibson, who was reading from the book he just finished!

He's a pretty laconic guy. Cheerful, though.
That was a pretty great monday. I'm sort of winding down here - I gotta get home earlier if I want to do homesy things like wash clothes or
cook stuff for myself. It's not every day that the author of Neuromancer is in town, though. I'm glad I got the chance to see him. AND, preventing me from seeming like a freeloading
fanboy, Helen equipped me with a copy of Gibson's new book immediately prior to meeting him, as a first day of work gift! I'm buying her... a pizza. Er.. in the shape of a heart. Yeah! 2nd anniversary of dating is the pizza anniversary.
(seriously glad I got a job before it really did have to be the pizza anniversary). Anyway, if this is how the sheep year is going to be, I'm all for it.

Our chinese new years party involved this guy, a monkey, 3 rats, 2 pigs, a horse, 2 goats, an ox, a snake, and a dragon.
