Imagine someone who has decided to drive his head through a brick wall and is about to do it. --Suck
Okay! Imagine that guy! He knows that what is about to happen is certainly going to suck a great deal and be very painful, and it's probably a stupid idea and won't really create any useful result. But he's made a decision! Someone who can make this kind of decision and follow through will accomplish things.
This is probably why so many executives hand down directives that seem about as tactically sound as "break down these brick walls using your head, only." They take decisive action, which means they are open to making WRONG decisions. Hilariously, the more considerate they are, the less effective of a leader that makes them.
Nothing worries employees quite like leadership that isn't absolutely sure about what it wants. Indecision is paralysis, make up your freakin' mind already.
